Flamingo Beach in Aruba

Flamingo beach is a magical place where you can get up close and personal with beautiful pink flamingos. This is a must-see experience for everyone visiting Aruba.

While they can seem intimidating at first, flamingos are very friendly. And they love to be fed! They will eat right out of your hand if you are lucky enough to catch them at the right time. But feeding them can be tricky because they are always moving around and tend to eat their food while standing up or striking that characteristic flamingo pose. So be patient and wait for them to approach you while they are eating. Once they do, be ready for some awesome pictures.

The best way to get the most unique and memorable photos with the flamingos is to feed them! When you arrive at the private island, there is a food dispenser where you can purchase flamingo food for US quarters. It’s located right at the entrance of the pier. One quarter gets you a whole cup of pink pellets to give the flamingos! I would recommend getting there early because the flamingos are hungry and it is less crowded. After all the tourists have fed them in the afternoon they are often stressed out and don’t want to eat anymore.

I would also advise you to bring your camera and wear sunscreen. The water is nice and clear but it can be a bit windy so you will want to protect your skin as much as possible. And make sure you have enough battery and storage space on your camera because you will take a lot of photos!

Renaissance Private Island has two different beaches: Iguana beach which is family-friendly and Flamingo beach which is adults only. You can access the island from either the Renaissance Marina Hotel or the Renaissance Ocean Suites. They offer free shuttle boats that run at least every 15 minutes throughout the day. If you are staying at the hotel, they can scan your room key and let you board the boat directly. Otherwise, you have to go through a pass check.

The fee for entering the Flamingo beach is $125 per person. We opted to use day passes because it was cheaper but it still felt like a splurge. However, I think it was well worth it because we got to spend an amazing day on a private island with flamingos! Plus, the exhilarating boat ride, peace and quiet on the private beaches, delicious drinks, and a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity definitely made it worth it.
